What are manifold insulators and what do they do? Manifold insulators are a thermal insulating spacer that mounts between your upper and lower intake manifold. Made from a heat blocking composite, our manifold insulators will increase power from your engine by keeping the intake cooler, and increase low end torque by increasing runner length.
But how do manifold insulators keep the intake manifold cooler? Given our manifold insulators are made from a composite material with a thermal conductivity of 0.29 W/m*K as opposed to aluminium, which has a thermal conductivity of 150 W/m*K; The difference works out to be that aluminum conducts heat 500 times higher then our composite material! Also, with gaskets often made out of steel (20 W/m*K thermal conductivity), placed between the upper and lower manifolds, replacing a .5mm gasket with a 10mm manifold insulator will conduct an amazing 1087 times less heat (yes, that's over 100,000% reduction!). What this basically means is that it becomes very difficult for the engine to heat up the manifold, which ultimately means more power for extended periods (i.e. considerably fewer heat soak issues)! Our composite material also exhibits high stiffness and compressive strength, can withstand temperatures up to nearly 150°C, and has a thermal expansion coefficient very similar to aluminum to increase sealing capabilities. In addition, the spacer can also withstand boosted conditions with ease. So what's included in the auction? Included in the auction is a 12mm thick manifold insulator, longer manifold bolts and gasket sealer. What about Installation? Installation is straight forward, requiring only the removal of your upper manifold to install the manifold insulator as shown below. Toyota Urban Utility concept embraces maker movement
Thu, 11 Sep 2014Toyota has unveiled a concept designed in response to the maker movement. Called the Urban Utility, or U2, the vehicle is intended to appeal to those who have embraced maker culture - the trend of learning new practical skills, embracing new construction technologies like 3D printing, and applying them in an inventive and often entrepreneurial way. The U2 will be unveiled at the World Maker Faire in New York City on 20 September and was designed at Toyota's Calty studio in Newport Beach, CA.
Infiniti to get Audi A3 fighter in product blitz
Mon, 04 Jul 2011Nissan plans to introduce a compact, entry-level Infiniti model below the G series to compete against such cars as the Audi A3 and Lexus CT 200h. The car would be part of a global product blitz to build Infiniti's lineup to 10 vehicles from seven by 2017. The car would be based on the Etherea concept shown in March at the Geneva auto show, a person familiar with the plan says.
